Pramod Sahu Receives Junior Fellowship Award from Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2022–23)

We are thrilled to share a proud moment in the artistic journey of Pramod Sahu! He has been honored with the prestigious Junior Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the Fields of Culture for the batch year 2022–23, awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

This award is a recognition of his exceptional contribution to the traditional art of Rangoli, an ancient Indian decorative art form, which Pramod has not only preserved but elevated onto national and global platforms.

The Only Awardee from Chhattisgarh in Rangoli Art

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Pramod Sahu is the only artist from Chhattisgarh to receive this national-level fellowship in the field of Rangoli Art for this batch. This recognition not only highlights his individual excellence but also brings state-level pride to Chhattisgarh, showcasing the region’s rich cultural and artistic legacy.

Promoting Rangoli as a Serious Art Form

For years, Pramod has dedicated himself to reviving and innovating the Rangoli tradition — transforming it from a festive floor decoration into a contemporary and respected visual art form. Through his hyper-realistic 3D Rangolis, cultural storytelling, and art installations, he has redefined public perception of Rangoli both in India and abroad.

This fellowship will support his continued research, documentation, and outreach projects aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of Rangoli while exploring its potential in modern visual storytelling.

A Milestone in a Long List of Honors

The Junior Fellowship adds to Pramod’s growing list of accolades — from international art festivals in Russia, the USA, and Dubai, to national honors like the All India Platinum Artist Award and the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Rashtra Nirman Award. This latest recognition not only celebrates his personal achievements but also inspires a new generation of young artists to take pride in traditional Indian art forms.

A Message of Gratitude

On receiving the fellowship, Pramod Sahu said:

“I am deeply honored and grateful to the Ministry of Culture for recognizing Rangoli as a valuable art form. This award is not just mine, but belongs to every artist who believes in the power of tradition, color, and culture.”
